Dearest friends,

Second-year in the pandemic. Life change is taking root in our souls. I have always considered them as moments of evolution as a source of reflection, renewal, rebirth.

Today we talk a lot about RESILIENCE:

1. The ability of a material to absorb a shock by distributing it in its mass without breaking.

2. Psychologically speaking, it is the ability that an individual has to face unexpected/traumatic events without closing himself in the evil of that moment, his ability to overcome the obstacle.

3. Politically/economically speaking, a country can receive a severe financial blow without losing its balance, its ability to transform the crash into a new life path.

But resilience is not the only keyword of this historical period. Today we also talk about DIGITIZATION. What does it mean?

1. Transforming a sound, an image, a text (what we hear, see, say) into a sequence of numbers to insert in that dimension that we commonly call informatics that we all carry around like a computer, a tablet or a mobile phone.

2. Saving time, space, energy and material through the digital transformation in everyday life operations and, in the administrative-bureaucratic processes companies organization (bank account management, information retrieval, files for administrative, bureaucratic issues).

Digital wants to be evolution. A possibility of having information in real-time and more free time for ourselves, for a healthy life.

Do you remember the lords of the Middle Ages?

A king went to war, and as soon as he arrived at the place, he sent a messenger back to tell his family that he was fine.

But, just as the family received the news with joy, they were not sure if the king was still alive because the information was two months old or even more.

Digital, like everything, also has a dark side. We do not have to forget it. Above all, we must not abandon children hours a day before a screen that does not allow relation or controlled reactions.

That is the real evil of digitization: the annihilation of the human relationship, the impossibility of replication, the passive absorption of sounds, images and words, sometimes in front of the small screen of a telephone, also reducing the perception of that world, of their world, of the future.

A world made up of very rapid images and lights, which modify our brain's functions and often, unfortunately, affect weak, lonely, bored minds.

I am looking for sharing. A strong word when it comes to digital, yet it is my strong point.

Deciding work digitally, the focus on relationships has been the most challenging part to build.

In the end, I did it.

I managed to overcome the digital barrier and transform it into something positive, also communicative and relational.

I asked myself: how can a pandemic help me to improve? How can I be resilient for myself and, in my small way, for others? How can I digitize my life without losing control of my brain, the love for the colours of the flowers, and the desire to walk in the cool alpine woods?

In the beginning, it wasn't easy because taking a lesson online requires a good dose of courage.

The thought of a digital narrative initially closed me off.

I play the narration through the emotional expression of the face and body, trying to involve the listener with expectation and with the look. Finally, I did it. (See two small monologues from the labs: Hamlet and Oranges).

I had been resilient with a group of students from regular schools and parental schools.

In 2020, the Italian Giornale nel Bosco was born from Friuli Venezia Giulia to Liguria. A group of children worked together with commitment, perseverance, and effort create.

I am sharing this post with you to offer the possibilities of practice your Italian, participating in my Italian Theatre online Labs or the next edition of Giornale del Bosco - contact me at leggicon@gmail.com
